50,000 forint – 550th Anniversary of Enthronement of Matthias Hunyadi

On 21 January 2008 the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued a gold collector coin with a face value of HUF 50,000 called the “550th anniversary of the ascension to the throne of Mátyás Hunyadi”. On the obverse of the coin, apart from the obligatory elements, there is a raven holding a ring in its beak – a reference to the arms of Mátyás Hunyadi –, while on the reverse there is a portrait of Mátyás Hunyadi based on a marble relief made by an Italian master, which is kept in the Hungarian National Gallery.
