5,000 forint – Tokaj Historic Wine Region Cultural Landscape
Series: Hungary – Silver forint coins
On 4 November 2008, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued a silver collector coin ‘Tokaj historic wine producing region’ with a face value of HUF 5,000. The obverse of the coin features the standard design elements (the denomination: 5000, the legend: REPUBLIC OF HUNGARY, the mint mark: BP and the date of issue: 2008). The coin is adorned with a grape wreath running around the rim. On the reverse, a view of Tokaj hill with the TV tower on its top, a village with a church at the foot of the hill and a grape field in the foreground are depicted. The reverse also bears the signature mark of designer Gábor Gáti, as well as the Euro-star logo, indicating that the coin was issued as part of the Europa Coin Programme. The collector coin is made of .925 fine silver, weighs 31.46 grams, its diameter is 38.61 mm and it has a milled edge. The mintage limit is 20,000 pieces, of which 15,000 are produced using the special proof technology.
