5,000 forint – 100th anniversary of the birth of Miklós Radnóti

On 9 May 2008, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued a silver collector coin ‘Radnóti’ with a face value of HUF 5,000, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miklós Radnóti. The obverse of the coin features the standard design elements (the denomination: 5000, the legend: REPUBLIC OF HUNGARY, the mint mark: BP and the date of issue: 2009). The reverse bears the portrait of Miklós Radnóti in semi-profile, leaning forward. Radnóti’s signature is located to the right of the portrait, with the inscription ‘1909–1944’ below it. On the left, the signature mark of designer Gábor Gáti is positioned. The collector coin is made of .925 fine silver, weighs 31.46 grams, its diameter is 38.61 mm and it has a milled edge. The mintage limit is 10,000 pieces, of which 6,000 are produced using the special proof technology.
