10 euro – 4th Centenary of the publication of Don Quixote – D.Quijote stabbing wineskins

The common obverse for the 10 Euro coins has been minted with an image of Don Quixote of La Mancha reading, seated atop his bookpiles. The reverse of this second coin brings us an interpretation of the chapter known as "A Battle with Wineskins", in which Don Quixote is seen to be stabbing some wineskins filled with red wine.The year 2005 marks the 4th Centenary of the first edition of «The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha», written by Miguel de Cervantes, one of the masterpieces of world literature. A collector coin set has been authorized, minted and released to mark the occasion. These coins feature texts and designs dedicated to commemorating the first edition of the work.
