5,000 forint - 125th Anniversary of birth of Dezső Kosztolányi
Series: Hungary - Silver forint coins
A Magyar Nemzeti Bank – Kosztolányi Dezső születésének 125. évfordulója alkalmából – „Kosztolányi” megnevezéssel 5000 forintos címletű ezüst emlékérmét bocsátott ki 2010. március 29-én. On 29 March 2010, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued a silver collector coin ‘Kosztolányi’ with a face value of HUF 5,000, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Dezső Kosztolányi. The collector coin was designed by István Holló. In addition to the standard design elements (the value numeral: 5000, the legend: REPUBLIC OF HUNGARY, the mint mark: BP and the year of issue: 2010), the obverse of the coin features a ruinous stone wall as a main motif, alluding to the urban poetry of Kosztolányi. The reverse bears the portrait of Kosztolányi after a photo by Béla Halmi. The inscription ‘Dezső Kosztolányi’ and the dates ‘1885–1936’ are located to the left of the portrait. To the right of the portrait is the engraver’s signature mark.
The collector coin is made of .925 fine silver, weighs 31.46 grams and its diameter is 38.61 mm. The mintage limit is 8,000 pieces, of which 5,000 are produced using the special proof technology.
