50 euro - 2nd Series Spanish Painters - Dalí

This coin with a face value of 50 euros reproduces on the obverse the central scene from the oil painting "The Spectre of Sex Appeal" (1934), which gives expression to Dali's conflicts with the feminine sex. The reverse features a rendering of the central scene from the oil "The Temptation of St. Anthony" (1946), painted while Dali was in the United States, and which is of particular significance because it marks the beginning of his later mystical phase that showed his predilection for religious themes.
