5 euro - The Four Leaf Clover

The Threatened Species series, a series of collector coins created by the Portuguese Mint with the aim of promoting knowledge and preservation of national animal and plant species that are at risk, features the issue of a coin, created by Catarina Sobral, dedicated to the Four-Leaf Clover (Marsilea quadrifolia), a semi-aquatic plant species most commonly found in riverside areas. It is currently critically endangered and in accentuated regression in Portugal due to the alteration and destruction of its habitat. Part of the revenue from this coin will be channelled into an environmental fund selected by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests.
