The artist is Ernst Nordin, who is a renowned artist in the fields of coins, medallions and sculpture. The coin was minted by Nordic Coin AB Svenska myntverket in Eskilstuna.

The obverse side contains a portrait of King Carl XVI Gustaf in profile with the legend "CARL XVI GUSTAF" above and "KING OF SWEDEN FOR 30 YEARS" below.

On the reverse is the crowned greater national coat of arms, with the King's motto as legend above "FÖR SVERIGE - I TIDEN" (FOR SWEDEN - WITH THE TIMES) and below "200 KRONOR".
