Since 2017 and after the Sower, Hercules and the Rooster, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to a major symbol of the French Republic : Marianne.
Marianne is a symbol of the French Republic, an allegory of freedom. She is wearing a Phrygian cap, a cockade and is accompanied by flying birds.
In 2018, she illustrates Equality symbolised by the letter « E » of the word Equality. It turns into the equal sign which links men and women with each other. Equality of the sexes is a key driver of the Republic.
