On the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, 2025, a collector's coin dedicated to María Moliner Ruiz is being issued. With a degree in Philosophy and Letters, in the History section, María Moliner entered the Faculty of Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists by competitive examination, later working in the General Archive of Simancas or in the Archive of the Treasury Delegation of Murcia, among other prestigious jobs. In 1946 she became director of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales de Madrid, during which time she produced her Diccionario de uso del español (1966-1967), one of the most outstanding dictionaries of Spanish lexicography. In 1972 María Moliner was a candidate for a seat in the Real Academia Española, but was not awarded it. She would have been the first woman member of that institution. On the obverse is a portrait of His Majesty King Felipe VI on the left. The reverse shows an image of the lexicographer and librarian María Moliner, a photograph from the ABC Archive. Next to the image appears the symbol of the woman surrounded by the legend María Moliner and some scattered letters that form the legend iGuALdaD. At the bottom is the legend 8-M INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.
