On the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Johnny Hallyday's passing away and the 60th anniversary of his first title, the Monnaie de Paris has decided to pay tribute to this major artist through a new range of monetary and non-monetary products. This collection highlights the showman, the outstanding guitarist and the great biker that Johnny was. The blister pack features a portrait of Johnny Hallyday, his eyes overflowing with determination and passion.
The obverse of this coin pays tribute to the greatness and longevity of Johnny Hallyday's career. The two portraits separated by the curve of a guitar represent the artist at two moments of his life, which was dedicated to music and to the stage. The acronym "RF" is also stylized with guitar strings. The inscription "60 ans de souvenirs" underlines the long career of the France’s favourite rocker and refers to his cult song "Souvenirs, Souvenirs".
The reverse of this coin represents two objects that gave rhythm to the life of Johnny: the guitar and the motorcycle. Motorcyclist at heart, the artist's favorite vehicle is subtly integrated on the guitar's body. The strings of the guitar form his name to symbolize his deep bond with this instrument.
