The World Cup, or World FIFA Cup is an international football competition that takes place every four years. Created in 1928 in France, it is open to all federations recognized by the FIFA. For the World Cup organised in Russia, Monnaie de Paris is developing a collection that pays tribute to football and to the place of the competition.
The obverse represents the trophy and the competition’s name, inserted among a multitude of symbols from football and Russian culture.
On the reverse, a kicking player is displayed. In the background, Russian cathedral onion roofs are portrayed, as well as graphic elements from Russian culture.
