10 euro - 2nd Series Spanish Painters – Dalí - Automatic Beginning of a Portrait of Gala
Series: Spain - Silver 10 euro coins
The obverse, common to the three silver 8-real coins reproduces the central scene from the work "Self-Portrait with l'Humanité" (1923). In this painting Dali paints himself dressed as a laborer and acting like an agitator, thus attesting to his admiration for the revolutionary ideas of the time. The reverse of the third 8-real coin with a 10-euro face value reproduces the work "Automatic Beginning of a Portrait of Gala" (1932), in which the artist displays his desire to experiment with the different stages of picture composition.
