1 quetzal - The Olympic Games – Tae kwon do, Equestrian events and Gymnastics

On this coin Guatemala reproduces scenes from tae kwon do, equestrian events and gymnastics, all sports prevalent in the Pan American Games which are considered to be the overture to the Olympics. The reverse of the coin shows the figure of an indigenous woman playing the game of pelota and the symbolic bird, the Quetzal. The obverse features the Guatemalan coat-of-arms as its central motif surrounded by the coats-of-arms of the other participating countries.
